Poll of the week: how much time do you spend in the car on a roadtrip?

Now that we are officially in autumn, I would like to take a moment to ask you about your summer vacation.

Went on a roadtrip? If you have followed the site, you probably know, we did, and it was a great one-seven weeks and 8000 kilometers. But although we covered a lot of miles on our trip, we must not that many long days in the car; we tried to break the journey out into smaller pieces, with several days from roads in between our driving days together. The Niles family Prius

I am familiar with epic stints behind the wheel-when I was in Grad school, I once ran from Orlando to Houston in a single day, stopping only to gas and hit drive-thrus at meal times. (Human "pit stop" was reserved for when the gas pumping.)It was over 1000 miles in a day-my personal best.

But with a wife and children now, can't family comfortably endure that much driving in one day. We stretched on this trip to make it from Cincinnati to Orlando at once, but it was with a 5 pm start to a 15-hour working day. Most driving days, but were we comfortable spending up to nine to 10 hours in the car, an average of between 600-700 nautical miles.

How long are you and your family, comfortable in the car on a single day during a roadtrip? It is our poll of the week.

I have offered the options below in miles, but it may be helpful to think of them in terms of hours.Let us shape that highway speeds and occasional pauses for food and gas that you might need to average a touch over 60 miles per hour; which would place the first option of up to four hours in the car, the other in about four to eight hours, the third party on the eight-to-12 hours and setting over 750 miles at more than 12 hours a day in the car.

Or if you don't care for roadtrips and is more comfortable on a plane or train to low-income tours, which is an option available to you as well.

Let us hear more detail in the comments. What is the longest you have used in the car in one day "deliberate release"? Got any fun roadtrip or frustrating stories? We would love to hear them.
